SIX RELAY TEAMS RUNNING IN 2014 MERCEDES MARATHON THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH!

Six teams of runners will be running in the annual Mercedes Marathon this Sunday to raise awareness of The Firehouse Shelter's homeless ministry, to raise a record $20,000, and to encourage homeless or previously homeless men to adopt healthy exercise choices that will benefit themselves and our community.

Three members of various Firehouse Shelter housing programs have been training hard and will run a 5K (3.1 miles) as part of their relay team which will run the 26.2 mile course beginning at 7 am Sunday morning! This is the fourth year that The Firehouse Shelter has sponsored marathon relay teams and/or had individuals run to raise money in support of the Firehouse Shelter's programs which serve the homeless community here in Birmingham! In 2013, 18, 891 was raised as 41 persons ran on behalf of The Firehouse Shelter!

Come on out this Sunday morning somewhere along the race route to cheer on the teams!!
