Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Donates $1,000 Towards Mercedes Marathon Fundraiser

The North Central AL Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans presented a $1,000 check to Steve Freeman, Executive Director of The Firehouse Shelter, on Thursday, April 18 to further the mission of serving Birmingham's homeless. This is the first year that the local chapter has partnered with The Firehouse Shelter and its' effort to raise funds via The Mercedes Marathon which is run every February.
"The Firehouse Shelter truly does worthwhile work in the community for the desperate and needy who are homeless," said Tom. Each year the local chapter designates much needed dollars through their Care Abounds in Communities fund on behalf of those in need. "The Firehouse Shelter is a well-known and respected non-profit serving our communities most vulnerable citizens. We were glad to contribute to their goal of raising nearly $19,000 with the 2013 Mercedes Marathon Fundraiser."
