HELP US SHARE THE GIFT OF LOVE WITH OUR CHRISTMAS GIFT BAG PROJECT
Posted by Kelly Wallace on 11/30/2012
The Firehouse Shelter is asking for donations from individuals, churches and businesses in an effort to provide 300 Christmas Gift Bags for the homeless men of Birmingham who will visit our Shelter on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Our goal is to include Sweatshirts, Sweatpants, Thermal/Insulated Tops and Bottoms, Toboggans, Gloves, Thermal Socks and Underwear in each gift bag we distribute Christmas Day! All sizes S to XXL (or 28 to 50) are needed, although XL & XXL are our most common sizes.
Monetary donations totaling $1,000 are also needed so that we can purchase pre-packed personal hygiene items to include in their gift bag. We need toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, hand lotion, razors and deodorant.
This is a great way to get your family, church, group, or work-place to get involved in giving back to our homeless community this Christmas. Purchasing 100, 200 or 300 of each clothing item would be so instrumental in helping us reach our goal or if you chose, you could make a financial donation to The Firehouse Shelter so we could purchase these items. Contact Donna Bonds at firstname.lastname@example.org to let her know which items and how many you will collect so that we can coordinate our efforts. In order to have enough time to assemble the gift bags, we have set a deadline of Wednesday, December 19th as the last day to receive items! Thanks for your desire to support our ministry!
